Fight against poverty will go on, says Lalu Prasad

"The BJP and the RSS want to take away the reservation of the backward and the poor people. I won't let their dreams come true. This fight against poverty will go on," Lalu told the reporters here. An FIR was lodged yesterday against the RJD chief for provoking caste feelings during a speech two days earlier in Raghopur.

Lalu had called the poll a backward-versus-forward fight and a Mahabharata exhorted Yadavs to stay awake and united and said that the RSS is full of Brahmins

Jitan Ram Manjhi to contest from two assembly seats

"Manjhi will contest from Imamganj assembly constituency and Makhdumpur assembly constituency as HAM candidate," party spokesperson Danish Rizwan said, adding that the decision was taken on Sunday.

Imamganj city is in Gaya, Manjhi's home district which is considered Maoist-affected. He will contest against Bihar Assembly Speaker and JD-U candidate Uday Narain Choudhary from here. Manjhi had earlier announced he will contest from Makhdumpur Assembly constituency in Jehanabad district.

Last Friday HAM released its first list of 13 candidates for the Bihar Assembly polls and on Sunday the party released its second list of seven candidates. HAM is contesting from 20 seats in the 243-member Bihar assembly as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance.

BJP plays backward caste card to counter 'Mandal' politics

In order to woo the Dalits, Other Backward Castes (OBCs) and Extremely Backward Castes (EBCs), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has ruled out any 'sawarna' (upper caste) person becoming the Chief Minister if the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won two-thirds majority in the state polls.

With 'caste' factor, re-entrenched by recommendations of reservations by the the Mandal Commission, again dominating the campaigning for Bihar polls, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh said that the next Bihar Chief Minister would be either from the Dalits, OBCs or EBCs and not an upper caste.

"An upper caste cannot become the Chief Minister of Bihar; it is certain that if the BJP-led NDA comes to power, the next Chief Minister will be either from the OBCs or EBCs," the Union Minister - who belongs to the powerful and landed Bhumihar upper caste with a strong presence in the state politics - told the media here.

The BJP leader played this 'backward caste Chief Minister card' two days after RJD chief Lalu Prasad cited that the Bihar Assembly polls were a fight between the backward and forward castes.

Amit Shah begins Bihar tour for final poll push

Joined by party's election in-charge Ananth Kumar, the BJP chief, who arrived here today, will preside over nine regional meetings across the state in which key leaders and workers from all 38 districts will participate, Bihar BJP spokesperson Sanjay Mayukh said.

He will also work to placate the dissident voices that have arisen over a number of reasons, from tickets being given to turncoats from JD(U) and RJD and allegedly to those with criminal background to denial of nomination to the kin of some leaders.

"Amit Shah wants to ensure that the entire party apparatus is solidly behind the goal to win the assembly elections as the last leg of campaign starts. Whatever tactical changes in campaign or toning up of management at local and booth level is required will be done by him," a party source added.

RK Singh remark on BJP tickets in Bihar exposes true colours: Nitish Kumar

In potentially damaging remarks for BJP ahead of the high-stakes polls, its MP and former Union Home Secretary RK Singh on Saturday alleged that party tickets were sold to criminals, a charge dismissed as 'baseless' by the party but termed 'exceptionally grave' by rivals.

Singh got the backing of outgoing BJP MLA Vikram Kunwar who said he was denied ticket from Raghunathpur, alleging it was 'sold' to Manoj Singh, a turncoat and a sharpshooter of Shahabuddin. Kumar touched upon Singh's allegation while addressing a series of election rallies in the state. http://post.jagran.com/RK-Singh-remark-on-BJP-tickets-in-Bihar-exposes-true-colours-Nitish-Kumar-1443396241

NDA plans campaign blitz in Bihar, Modi to address over 20 rallies

Modi, a seasoned campaigner and the alliance's face for the polls in which it has not projected a chief ministerial candidate, will address the rallies barely two days after his arrival from a visit to Ireland and the US on September 29.

All opinion polls have predicted a photo finish in the polls, a must-win for BJP after its Delhi debacle. A victory in Bihar will give the Modi government the heft it requires to push its reform agenda, including introduction of the much-awaited GST. Modi, who remains a big draw in the state, can give it an edge in the fight. http://post.jagran.com/NDA-plans-campaign-blitz-in-Bihar-Modi-to-address-over-20-rallies-1443340072

Pappu Yadav-led Janadhikar Party releases poll manifesto

Yadav said parents of children not going to government schools would have to give clarification for it and they would be deprived of official facilities. The manifesto proposed to make roads in Bihar toll-free for students and farmers and also proposed to provide 30 percent subsidy and sales tax concession to students for purchase of Scooty.

Janadhikar Party, which has NCP and Samajwadi Party among others, is an important constituent of the Third Front in Bihar elections. It's contesting 64 seats in the Bihar elections. Yadav cited parents of families having two girl children would be honoured and a sum of Rs 50,000 would be given for each girl child.

He also promised implementation of the Sachar Committee recommendations within three months. The manifesto talked about cancellation of licence of shops caught selling fake medicines along with a penalty of Rs 50 lakh. Caste in mind, Bihar rivals decide tickets

If the forward castes have walked away with about 86 seats of the 214 for which BJP-led NDA has named its candidates so far, the grand alliance has given 63 seats to yadavs alone as it tries to ensure that the state's most numerically strong caste continues to back it.

The upper castes do not constitute more than 14 percent of the electorate but the NDA has allocated them 40 percent of the seats so far, an indication of its reliance on them in a state where they form the core support base of BJP.

With BJP making concerted efforts to lure yadavs and giving them 22 seats, RJD's Lalu Prasad has gone out of the way to keep them on his side and allotted 48 seats from his party's quota of 101 to the backward community. http://post.jagran.com/Caste-in-mind-Bihar-rivals-decide-tickets-1443101563

Bihar Assembly Elections 2015 List Will Come Out Today

http://inextlive.jagran.com/bihar-assembly-elections-2015-list-will-come-out-today-201509150003

Bihar Assembly Elections 2015 Jitan Ram Manjhi

http://inextlive.jagran.com/bihar-assembly-elections-2015-jitan-ram-manjhi-201509140001

BJP Wants To Contest More Than 160 Seats In Bihar Elections And Allies Agreed

http://inextlive.jagran.com/bjp-wants-to-contest-more-than-160-seats-in-bihar-elections-and-allies-agreed-201509110009
