No immediate breakthrough in resumption of Indo-Pak talks

Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said at a weekly news briefing in Islamabad said that Pakistan wants peace and stability in the region.

Pakistan does not see any "immediate breakthrough in start of talks", she said, adding Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had accepted invitation from India in good faith to attend oath taking ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Her statement came days after National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz said India should take an initiative to start the talks.

India called off Foreign Secretary-level talks with Pakistan after Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit held talks with Kashmiri separatists.

Modi, Sharif shake hands after cold vibes at SAARC summit

Modi put his hand on Sharif's arm as the two leaders looked at cameras with a long handshake even as they exchanged a few sentences. Loud applause greeted this apparent thaw which was in contrast to the two leaders ignoring each other on Wednesday.

"The two leaders exchanged pleasantries when they met for the first time after arriving here," External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said.

The leaders gathered at Dhulikhel in Kavre district, 30 km east of the Nepalese capital, for the traditional SAARC retreat on the concluding day of the two-day summit.   

At the retreat, they held private, unofficial talks in a relaxed and more informal atmosphere.

Sources said all the leaders met in informal settings and talked about various regional issues.

There was no discussion on bilateral issues, they said.
  
The SAARC Foreign Ministers, including External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Pakistan Prime Minister's Advisor on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz, were also present at the retreat.

People mob Modi for a handshake in Kathmandu

Modi stepped out of the car and shook hands with the bystanders at Kalimati in the evening on way back to the Soaltee Hotel after the closing ceremony of the 18th SAARC Summit. His move to stop and meet people took his security personnel by surprise as they were unprepared for the huge surge that came forward to greet the Indian Prime Minister.

The crowd greeted Modi with a huge applause and the people clamoured to shake hands with him and take pictures, leaving his security staff nervous.

During his first official visit to Nepal in August, Modi had similarly reached out to the Nepali public at different places in Kathmandu.

Rajnath singh angry on manmohan singh statement on narendra modi

नई दिल्ली। प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह द्वारा भाजपा के पीएम उम्मीदवार और गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी पर दिए गए तीखे बयान पर टिप्पणी करते हुए पार्टी अध्यक्ष राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा कि यह पूरी तरह से हास्यास्पद है। मैं इस बयान की पूरी तरह से निंदा करता हूं। उन्होंने कहा कि इस तरह का बयान दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण है और मैं इसका खंडन करता हूं। 

गौरतलब है कि मीडिया प्रतिनिधियों से बातचीत के क्रम में मनमोहन सिंह ने नरेंद्र मोदी पर निशाना साधते हुए कहा कि अगर मोदी प्रधानमंत्री बनते हैं तो देश के लिए विनाशकारी साबित होगा। राजनाथ सिंह ने इस बयान की आलोचना करते हुए कहा कि मोदी ने गुजरात को मॉडल राज्य बनाया है। उन्हें कोर्ट से क्लीन चिट मिल चुकी है। इसके बावजूद ऐसा बयान देना दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण है।

साथ ही राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा कि मनमोहन सिंह ने सभी मुद्दो पर चर्चा नहीं की। राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा की बात करें तो सरकार पूरी तरह फेल रही, लेकिन उन्होंने इस मुद्दे पर चर्चा नहीं की, ऐसा क्यूं? यूपीए के शासनकाल में आर्थिक विषमता बढ़ी, लेकिन उन्होंने इस मामले पर भी कुछ नहीं बोला। उन्होंने कहा कि एनडीए के पीएम पर भ्रष्टाचार के आरोप नहीं लगे थे।
