आज रवींद्र जडेजा भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम के बेहतरीन खिलाड़ियों में से एक हैं। वैसे उनके करियर के दौरान एक समय ऐसा भी आया था जब उन्होंने क्रिकेट छोड़ने का मन बना लिया था, लेकिन परिजनों और दोस्तों की सलाह के बाद उन्होंने क्रिकेट खेलना जारी रखा, अन्यथा हमें 'सर जडेजा' को मैदान में देखने का मौका नहीं मिल पाता।

जडेजा गरीब परिवार से आते हैं और उनके पिता अनिरूद्ध सिंह जडेजा प्राइवेट सिक्योरिटी एंजेसी में वॉचमैन थे। रवींद्र ने क्रिकेट में पहचान बनाना शुरू ही की थी कि 2005 में उनकी मां लता की एक दुर्घटना में मृत्यु हो गई, इसके चलते रवींद्र क्रिकेट छोड़ने का विचार कर रहे थे। लेकिन परिजनों और दोस्तों के समझाने के बाद उन्होंने क्रिकेट खेलना जारी रखा और आगे चलकर भारतीय टीम के लिए उन्हें खेलने का मौका मिला।

जडेजा ने 19 अक्टूबर 2006 को दुलीप ट्रॉफी में पश्चिम क्षेत्र की तरफ से दक्षिण क्षेत्र के खिलाफ प्रथम श्रेणी पदार्पण किया। वे 2006 और 2008 में भारत अंडर-19 टीम की तरफ से विश्व कप खेले और उनके ऑलराउंड प्रदर्शन की भारत को 2008 में अंडर-19 विश्व कप दिलाने में अहम भूमिका रही।

आइपीएल के पहले संस्करण में छा गए : जडेजा के करियर को आईपीएल के पहले संस्करण में 2008 में नया मोड़ मिला। वे राजस्थान रॉयल्स टीम में शामिल रहे और उन्होंने अपनी टीम को खिताब दिलाने में अहम भूमिका निभाई। कप्तान शेन वॉर्न ने उन्हें 'रॉक स्टार' नाम दिया। उन्होंने 14 मैचों में 131.06 के स्ट्राइक रेट से 135 रन बनाए। फाइनल में उन्होंने यादगार प्रदर्शन किया। अगले संस्करण में उन्होंने 6 विकेट लिए और 295 रन बनाए।

अंतरराष्ट्रीय पदार्पण : जडेजा को उनके बेहतर खेल का लाभ मिला और उन्होंने 8 फरवरी 2009 को कोलंबो में श्रीलंका के खिलाफ अंतरराष्ट्रीय वन-डे में पदार्पण किया। जडेजा इसके बाद प्रदर्शन में निरंतरता के अभाव में टीम इंडिया में जगह पक्की नहीं कर पाए।

आइपीएल में प्रतिबंध : जडेजा के करियर को 2010 में उस वक्त झटका लगा जब उन्हें नियम के विरूद्ध दूसरी फ्रेंचाइजी से संपर्क करने के कारण आइपीएल से एक वर्ष के लिए प्रतिबंधित कर दिया गया।

2012 में हुए सीएसके के : जडेजा के करियर में निर्णायक मोड़ 2012 में आया जब चेन्नई सुपर किंग्स (सीएसक) ने उन्हें खरीदा। डेक्कन चार्जर्स और सीएसके ने उनके लिए जमकर बोली लगाई, लेकिन वे करीब 10 करोड़ में सीएसके के हुए।

नागपुर में टेस्ट पदार्पण : उन्होंने इसी वर्ष 13 दिसंबर को नागपुर में इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ टेस्ट पदार्पण किया। वैसे उन्होंने अपनी पहचान ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ अगले वर्ष बनाई। इस सीरीज में जडेजा ने 4 टेस्ट मैचों में 17.45 की औसत से 24 विकेट झटके। इसी के बाद से धौनी ने उन्हें 'सर जडेजा' कहना शुरू किया।

एक साल से ज्यादा समय तक टीम से बाहर : बांग्लादेश के खिलाफ जून 2015 में वन-डे सीरीज के बाद खराब प्रदर्शन के चलते जडेजा करीब 14 महीनों तक टीम इंडिया से बाहर रहे। इस दौरान उन्होंने एक तरह से क्रिकेट से दूरी बना ली थी। इस ब्रेक के दौरान उनका आत्मविश्वास जागा और उन्होंने रणजी ट्रॉफी में धमाकेदार प्रदर्शन कर टीम इंडिया में वापसी की।

दीपिका पादुकोण ने सलमान खान संग फिल्‍म करने से पहले रखी ये शर्त

दीपिका पादुकोण को आखिरकार सलमान खान के साथ स्क्रीन शेयर करने का मौका मिल ही गया। कबीर खान की अगली फिल्म में वह सलमाल के साथ काम करती नजर आएंगी। लेकिन आपको जानकार हैरानी होगी कि दीपिका ने ये फिल्म साइन करने से पहले कबीर के सामने एक शर्त रखी थी।

ऑड-इवन नियम तोड़ने पर BJP सांसद से वसूला गया 3500 रुपये का चालान

केजरीवाल के मंत्री की गुजारिश के बावजूद भाजपा सांसद विजय गोयल सोमवार को अपनी पूर्व की घोषणा के अनुरूप ही ऑड-इवन नियम को तोड़ने के लिए ऑड नंबर की कार लेकर निकले, जिस पर उनका 3500 रुपये का चालान कर दिया गया। पुलिस के मुताबिक, विजय गोयल के पास उनका लाइसेंस नहीं था और गाड़ी का इंश्योरंस भी नहीं था। बता दें कि यह कि ऑड-इवन का दूसरा चरण है और आज यानी साेमवार ऑड-इवन का चौथा दिन था।

इससे पहले दिल्ली के परिवहन मंत्री गोपाल राय खुद 10 अशोक रोड स्थित आवास पर विजय गोयल से मिलने पहुंचे थे। गोपाल राय ने विजय गोयल को गुलाब का फूल देकर ऑड-इवन का नियम का पालन करने की गुजारिश की थी। बताया जा रहा है कि गोपाल राय ने फूल दिया तो गोयल ने उन्हें बुके पेश कर दिया।

गोपाल राय ने कहा, आप नियम न तोड़िए, बच्चों पर गलत असर पड़ेगा। इस पर विजय गोयल ने कहा, मेरा विरोध ऑड ईवन स्कीम से है ही नहीं। मेरा विरोध तो विज्ञापन दे कर पैसे की बर्बादी से है।

बता दें कि गोपाल राय ने पहले ही कह दिया था कि हम दो बार विजय गोयल को फूल देकर मनाएंगे, तीसरी बार उनका चालान काटा जाएगा।

भाजपा सांसद विजय गोयल से उनके आवास पर मुलाकात के दौरान गोपाल राय ने कहा कि वे नियमों का पालन करें। इस पर भाजपा नेता ने कहा कि आम आदमी पार्टी सरकार बिनाा तैयारी के अपने प्रचार के लिए इस योजना को लागू कर रही है। इसके चलते दिल्लीवासियों की परेशानी बढ़ गई है।

केजरीवाल के मंत्री से मुलाकात के दौरान भाजपा सांसद विजय गोलय ने कहा कि ऑड-इवन योजना के प्रचार के नाम पर केजरीवाल सरकार ने जनता के करोड़ों रुपये फूंक दिए हैं।

LIVE: हाई कोर्ट ने पूछा, उत्तराखंड में राष्ट्रपति शासन की क्या थी मजबूरी, सुनवाई जारी

राज्य में अनुच्छेद 356 का प्रयोग कर राष्ट्रपति शासन लगाने व लेखानुदान अध्यादेश के केंद्र के फैसले के खिलाफ निवर्तमान मुख्यमंत्री हरीश रावत की अलग-अलग याचिका पर हाई कोर्ट के मुख्य न्यायाधीश न्यायमूर्ति केएम जोसेफ और न्यायमूर्ति वीके बिष्ट की संयुक्त खंडपीठ में सुनवाई जारी है। इस दौरान केंद्र के अधिवक्ता की दलील पर हाई कोर्ट ने पूछा कि उत्तराखंड में राष्ट्रपति शासन लगाने की क्या मजबूरी थी, जबकि सरकार को पांचवा साल था। उधर, बागी विधायकों की सदस्यता निरस्त करने के मामले में विधानसभा अध्यक्ष गोविंद सिंह कुंजवाल की ओर से हाईकोर्ट में एकलपीठ के समक्ष पांच पेज का जवाब दाखिल कर दिया गया।

केंद्र सरकार की ओर से अटार्नी जनरल मुकुल रोहतगी ने कर्नाटक के बोमाई मामले की दलील दी। उन्होंने कहा कि केंद्र ने अनुच्छेद 356 का प्रयोग सरकारिया आयोग की सिफारिशों के अनुरूप किया। संवैधानिक पहलुओं पर गौर करने के बाद ही राष्ट्रपति शासन लगाया गया। राज्यपाल की रिपोर्ट के हर बिंदु का अध्ययन करने के बाद ही राष्ट्रपति ने इसकी मंजूरी दी।

उन्होंने कहा कि राज्यपाल ने दो या तीन दिन में बहुमत साबित करने या हर हाल में 28 मार्च के पहले का समय दिया, लेकिन स्पीकर ने बिना सदन स्थगित किए शक्ति परीक्षण के लिए 28 मार्च की तिथि नियत कर दी।

केंद्र के अधिवक्ता ने कहा कि 68 सदस्यों के सदन में 35 विधायकों ने विनियोग विधेयक पर मत विभाजन की मांग की। राज्यपाल को भी प्रत्यावेदन दिया। इसके बाद भी स्पीकर ने ध्वनि मत से विधेयक पारित घोषित कर दिया।

उन्होंने कोर्ट को बताया कि भाजपा के विधायक 18 मार्च की सुबह साढ़े दस बजे राजभवन पहुंचे। उन्होंने राज्यपाल से मत विभाजन कराने की मांग की। कांग्रेस की यह दलील असंवैधानिक है कि विनियोग विधेयक पर बहस नहीं हो सकती। मत विभाजन की मांग नहीं मान कर स्पीकर ने संविधान की दसवीं अनुसूची का उल्लंघन किया। उन्होंने दलील दी कि याचिका में तमाम तथ्यों को छिपाया गया और कोर्ट को गुमराह किया गया।

उन्होंने तर्क दिया कि स्पीकर ने विनियोग विधेयक पारित होने की प्रक्रिया नहीं अपनाई और बहुमत का अपमान किया। उन्होंने इस संबंध में नेता प्रतिपक्ष अजय भट्ट की ओर से राज्यपाल को दिए गए पत्र का हवाला दिया। इसमें उन्होंने लिखित में देकर मत विभाजन की मांग की थी।

उन्होंने कहा कि भाजपा विधायक गणेश जोशी को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया, जबकि सदन से गायब रहने वाले भाजपा विधायक भीमलाल आर्य को सरकार ने अंबेडकर समिति का उपाध्यक्ष बना दिया। ये सब एक साजिश के तहत किया गया।

सदन में स्पीकर ने विधायकों की मत विभाजन की मांग को नहीं माना। स्पीकर ने संवैधनिक बाध्यता के बाद मांग इसलिए ठुकराई कि सरकार अल्मपत में आ जाएगी। उन्होंने पंजाब, असम विधानसभाओं के मामलों का हवाला दिया। साथ ही कहा कि यहां बहुमत ने मत विभाजन मांगा, लेकिन स्पीकर ने यह कहते हुए ठकरा दिया कि मांग मानने या ना मानने का उन्हें अधिकार है।

उन्होंने कहा कि 28 मार्च की सुबह साढ़े दस बजे राजभवन पहुंचा विनियोग विधेयक। इससे पहले 27 मार्च को स्पीकर ने नौ बागी विधायकों की सदस्यता समाप्त कर दी, वो भी राष्ट्रपति शासन की अधिसूचना जारी होने के बाद। उन्होंने कहा कि बागी विधायकों और भाजपा विधायक भीम लाल आर्य के मामले में स्पीकर का दोहरा रवैया है। अब तक आर्य पर कार्रवाई नहीं की गई। वहीं नौ विधायकों का सदस्यता से ही निष्कासन कर दिया गया।

केंद्र के अधिवक्ता की दलील पर कोर्ट ने पूछा कि आपात स्थिति में ही केंद्र 356 का उपयोग करता है। इस मामले में जल्दबाजी क्यों की गई, जबकि सरकार को पांचवा साल लग गया था। साथ ही कोर्ट ने पूछा कि राज्यपाल ने जब 28 मार्च तक का समय बहुमत साबित करने को दिया था, तो राष्ट्रपति शासन लगाने की मजबूरी क्या थी।

जवाब में अटीर्नी जनरल रोहतगी ने कहा कि सरकार 18 मार्च को ही अल्पमत में आ गई थी। 35 विधायक मत विभाजन की मांग कर रहे थे, लेकिन स्पीकर ध्वनिमत से विधेयक पारित बता रहे। लोकतंत्र बहुमत से चलता है।

कोर्ट ने पूछा कि स्पीकर से मिलने के बजाय राज्यपाल से क्यों मिले विधायक। इस पर केंद्र के अधिवक्ता ने जवाब दिया कि स्पीकर से न्याय की उम्मीद नहीं थी, इसलिए विधायक राज्यपाल से मिले। उन्होंने राज्यपाल की ओर से केंद्र को भेजे गए उन पत्रों का हवाला दिया, जिसमें हॉर्स ट्रेडिंग की जिक्र किया गया है। साथ ही उन्होंने पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री हरीश रावत के स्टिंग मामले की कोर्ट के समक्ष रखा।

केंद्र के अधिवक्ता ने कहा कि स्पीकर ने बिना सुनवाई का मौका दिए बगैर मुख्यमंत्री बदलने की मांग कर रहे नौ विधायकों की दल बदल कानून के तहत सदस्यता निरस्त कर दी। मुख्यमंत्री को खुलेआम सौदेबाजी करते पूरे देश ने देखा। उन्होंने कहा कि राष्ट्रपति शासन लगाने की मुख्य वजह जानने का कोर्ट को हक है, लेकिन इस तथ्य को सार्वजनिक नहीं किया जा सकता।

बागी विधायकों को लेकर विधानसभा अध्यक्ष ने दाखिल किया जवाब
बागी विधायकों की सदस्यता निरस्त करने के मामले में विधानसभा अध्यक्ष गोविंद सिंह कुंजवाल की ओर से हाईकोर्ट में एकलपीठ के समक्ष पांच पेज का जवाब दाखिल कर दिया गया।

भेंट किया गया था कोहिनूर, दावा नहीं कर सकतेः सरकार

कोहिनूर हीरे को वापस लाने को देकर दायर जनहित याचिका पर सुनवाई करते हुए सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने आज केद्र सरकार से पूछा कि कोहिनूर को वापस लाने के लिए सरकार क्या कदम उठा रही है। सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने केंद्र सरकार से इस मामले पर 6 हफ्ते के भीतर जवाब मांगा है। शीर्ष अदालत ने ऑल इंडिया ह्यूमन राइट्स एंड सोशल राइट्स फ्रंट की जनहित याचिका पर सुनवाई करते हुए सरकार को यह निर्देश दिया है।

केंद्र सरकार की तरफ से कोर्ट में पेश हुए सॉलीसिटर जनरल ने कहा कि संस्कृति मंत्रालय के मुताबिक सीधे तौर पर कोहिनूर पर दावा नहीं किया जा सकता क्योंकि कोहिनूर को लूटकर नहीं ले जाया गया और ना ही वो चोरी हुआ है बल्कि महाराजा रंजीत सिंह ने ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी को कोहिनूर हीरा दिया था।

सांस्कृतिक मंत्रालय के अनुसार, भारत कोहिनूर पर दावा नहीं कर सकता क्योंकि इसे चुराया या जबरन छीना नहीं गया था। इस पर चीफ जस्टिस ने केंद्र से पूछा कि क्या आप केस खत्म करना चाहते हैं? अगर ऐसा है तो भविष्य में कोई भी वैध दावा करते वक्त आपको समस्या आएगी।

इसके बाद सॉलिसिटर जनरल ने अदालत से कहा कि यह केवल सांस्कृतिक मंत्रालय का पक्ष था और अब वो विदेश मंत्रालय का पक्ष भी लेंगे।

इसके साथ ही सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने केंद्र को 6 हफ्ते में जवाब पेश करने के लिए कहा है। इससे पहले भी सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने सुनवाई के दौरान केंद्र को अपना रूख स्पष्ट करने के लिए कहा था। Read more http://www.jagran.com/

महाराष्ट्र: लातूर में सेल्फी विवाद पर पंकजा मुंडे ने दी ये सफाई

महाराष्ट्र में भीषण सूखे की मार से गुजर रहे लातुर में कैबिनेट मंत्री पंकजा मुंडे की सेल्फी पर विवाद के बीच उन्होंने सफाई दी है। महाराष्ट्र की ग्रामीण विकास और जल संरक्षण मंत्री पंकजा मुंडे ने सफाई देते हुए कहा कि 'लातूर के मंजरा नदी में पानी देखकर मैं काफी खुश थी, जिसके बाद मैंने वहां की तस्वीरें खींची।'

खड़से ने किया बचाव

वहीं राज्य के कृषि मंत्री एकनाथ खडसे ने पंकजा मुंडे का बचाव किया है। खडसे ने कहा है कि सेल्फी लेना कोई बड़ी बात नहीं है।

क्या है मामला

दरअसल लातूर में पंकजा मुंडे की सेल्फी लेते हुए तस्वीरें सामने आईं हैं। यहां बहने वाली मंजरा नदी से गाद निकालने का काम जारी है और इस काम के साथ वो सेल्फी लेती नजर आईं। इस दौरान वो अकेली नहीं थीं बल्कि उनके साथ कुछ अफसर भी मौजूद थे। सेल्फी लेने के बाद पंकजा ने वहां चल रहे काम का जायजा भी लिया। जब यह सबकुछ हो रहा था तब पत्रकारों ने उनकी तस्वीरें ले लीं।

बार में निकली नौकरी, 'ऐसे कर्मचारी की आवश्यकता जो देख सके 20 घंटे गंदी फिल्‍म'

डेनमार्क के आरहस इलाके में बने एक बार ने विज्ञापन के जरिए से अजीबोगरीब नौकरी के लिए आवेदन मांगे हैं। विज्ञापन में उन लोगों से आवेदन मांगे गए हैं जो एक सप्ताह में 20 घंटे तक पॉर्न वीडियो देख सकते हों।

एक अंग्रेजी वेबसाइट के अनुसार, भीड़भाड़ इलाके में स्थित हॉर्नस्लेथ नामक बार नौकरी के लिए कर्मचारी को लैपटॉप के साथ ही पॉर्न जॉकी भी उपलब्ध कराएगा। स्थानीय अखबारों व ऑनलाइन संस्करणों में जारी किए गए विज्ञापनों में बताया गया है कि इस नौकरी के तहत कर्मचारी को एक निजी कमरा, कई पॉर्न फिल्मों की डीवीडी भी दी जाएगी।

बार ने अजीबोगरीब नौकरी के लिए आवेदन इसलिए मांगे हैं ताकि वे बार में आने वाले लोगों को टॉयलेट में सबसे बेहतरीन सेक्स ऑडियो सुना सकें। इस नौकरी में कर्मचारियों को तमाम पॉर्न वीडियोज देखकर उसमें से तकरीबन 60 घंटे की ऑडियो निकालनी होगी।

हॉर्नस्लेथ बार के मालिक क्रिस्चियन वोन हॉर्नस्लेथ का कहना है कि विज्ञापन के जारी होने के बाद से ही कई लोगों ने नौकरी के लिए आवेदन किए हैं। उन्होंने कहा, 'कम समय के अंतराल में ही कई सौ लोगों ने इस अजीब नौकरी के लिए अपनी सीवी भेजी है। जल्द ही उनसे इंटरव्यू के लिए संपर्क किया जाएगा।'

Government likely to seek Facebook's help to promote education

The government, in its interaction with Facebook co- founder Mark Zuckerberg on Friday is also likely to ask him to promote Hindi on its social networking site.

They said that Facebook is keen for promotion of e-commerce and e-health in India, besides taking up issues relating to expanding in the education sector during its chief's interaction with the government.

On its part, the government is reportedly keen that Facebook should take up social issues of empowering the girl child through education and involve in aggressively campaigning against female foeticide.

It also wants its help in the ambitious Ganga cleaning up project, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking up in a major way.

Zuckerbuck, on his part, is looking at deeper engagement with the government in expanding Internet penetration to villages and promoting creation of regional content.

Zuckerberg is the third high profile CEO of a US-based firm, after Amazon's Jeff Bezos and Microsoft's Satya Nadella, to visit India in last few days.

He announced that Facebook is creating a USD 1 million fund to help developers develop apps for farmers, migrants and women. This will be a contest to drive new apps and services in local languages.

"Since 2007, Facebook has been working on new apps and services in local languages. About 65 percent use Facebook in a language other than English, including 10 Indian languages," he said.

US approves two technology transfer licenses to India

While the decision in this regard was made just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's US visit, the announcement was made by a top Pentagon official during the annual gala of US India Business Council (USIBC) on Thursday.

"What is critical now is that we agree on some projects that we can use to continue building our relationship. Good intentions must lead to tangible results, or the momentum we have built will fade," said Frank Kendall, Under Secretary of Defence for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics during his
address at the event.

Kendall, who is Pentagon's point person for the India-US Defence Trade and Technology Initiative (DTTI), however, did not give details about the two licenses approved by US.

He said: "I have also set aside USD 20 million for strategic cooperative science and technology projects with India, something we have done with no other country."

Kendall, who accompanied Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel to India this summer, was highly appreciative of the developments and policy changes in India.

"It was very clear to Secretary Hagel and me that a new wind was blowing in India -– the monsoon had changed direction and intensity. Everyone we met, at all levels, was highly interested in opportunities for cooperation," Kendall said.

He said: "Modi made it clear to Secretary Hagel that India was very interested in expanding its defence industry and increasing the level of technology that could be developed and manufactured in India. This sentiment was repeated at every level. The desire we felt to inject new momentum into this relationship and DTTI was echoed by those across the table".

Kendall said he and his Indian counterpart Mohan Kumar have agreed to establish a written framework for DTTI and to meet in person every six months.

"We also agreed that India would work to finalize approval of the renewal of the Research, Development, Test and Evaluation Memorandum of Agreement (RDT&E MoU) for signature during my November visit," he said.

The two have also agreed to continue efforts to identify specific co-development and co-production opportunities and that Acting Assistant Secretary for Research and Engineering Al Shaffer would continue to work with Scientific Adviser to the Minister of Defence to develop specific Science and Technology Projects.

"I believe both US and Indian DTTI teams concluded our meetings feeling energized, focused and optimistic about future cooperation," he said.

Kendall refuted the notion that DTTI is an attempt to sell defence products to India, saying it is "just one facet of an initiative to build a deeper, closer, and broader relationship with one of the most important countries on earth."

Ban Ki Moon expresses concern over 'escalation of violence' in Kashmir

Ban's associate spokesperson Vannina Maestracci told reporters, "In a statement, the secretary-general said that he is concerned about the recent escalation of violence along the Line of Control between India and Pakistan. He deplores the loss of lives and the displacement of civilians on both sides."

She added, "The secretary-general encourages the governments of India and Pakistan to resolve all differences through dialogue and to engage constructively to find a long-term solution for peace and stability in Kashmir."

The measured statement by Ban stressed the bilateral aspect in asking New Delhi and Islamabad "to resolve all differences through dialogue."

Pakistan has renewed its attempts to internationalize the Kashmir issue. Last month, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif spoke at the UN General Assembly (UNGA) about its resolutions on Kashmir and 'fulfillment of that promise'.

And on Tuesday, Pakistan's UN Ambassador Masood Khan brought it up again, saying, Sharif 'reminded United Nations of its own responsibility'. Khan also said UN Military Observer Group 'must be enabled to play its role in monitoring the ceasefire'.

India has rejected any role for UN or other third parties in dealing with the Kashmir dispute.

Responding to Khan at the UNGA on Tuesday, Devesh Uttam, a girst secretary at the Indian Mission to the UN, said, "The onus of creating a positive environment is on Pakistan which is utterly failing to do so." He added, "It is a matter of deep regret that Pakistan has violated the ceasefire."

Highest-ever FDI will come this fiscal: DIPP

"I am sure we will achieve an all-time high in FDI inflows in FY15 given the extra focus on the same we are giving," Atul Chaturvedi, joint secretary in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), said late on Wednesday at an event organized by industry chamber FICCI.

"We are looking at increasing FDI with all these promotional measures and promoting the country as an investment  destination," he added.

The new government is going all out to boost FDI inflow in the country. It has raised FDI limit in defence manufacturing, it also cleared the long-delayed 100 percent FDI in railways and a debate is on regarding 100 percent FDI in the insurance sector.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had in his Independence Day speech announced the 'Make in India' campaign inviting companies across the world to make their products in India and create jobs in the labour-intensive manufacturing sectors.

While the highest so far FDI received by the country was in 2011-12 at USD 35.12 billion, in the four months of this fiscal alone inflows have crossed USD10.75 billion, Chaturvedi said.

As per the DIPP, FDI inflow zoomed 34 percent to USD 1.92 billion in June.

The net investments by foreign investors in Indian debt markets since the beginning of this calendar year have reached USD 17 billion, or Rs.120,000 crore, while the same for equities stand at USD13 billion, or Rs.78,000 crore, taking the total to USD 30 billion, or Rs.180,000 crore.

India Windies ODIs: Ishant sharma replaces injured Mohit Sharma

"Mohit Sharma has aggravated his bilateral shin pain, and has therefore been ruled out of the ongoing Micromax Cup, India vs West Indies ODI series, 2014," said a BCCI statement on Friday.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Ishant Sharma as his replacement in the Indian squad.

Ishant Sharma last played an ODI in January against New Zealand and is making a comeback after missing matches against Bangladesh, the Asia Cup and the ODI series in England. India trail the West Indies 0-1 in the series after suffering a humiliating 124-run loss in the first ODI in Kochi.

Mohit Sharma failed to get any wickets in that match, giving away 61 runs off his nine overs. The second ODI will be played at the Feroze Shah Kotla, New Delhi on Saturday.

Ali Zafar beefs up for 'Kill Dil'

Normally, there are actors who lose weight for parts. But Ali went into reverse gear as he had to put on seven to eight kg for the Shaad Ali-directorial.

Explaining his decision to bulk up, Ali said "I had actually lost a lot of weight for 'Chashme Baddoor' to look like a college student. For 'Kill Dil', I needed a more mature and more beefy look.

"Ali constantly pumped iron in the gym. I am now 73 kg. But I want to lose two to three kg and hold my weight steady at 70 kg. Too much of the muscled look is also not good," he said.

The 34-year-old, who was last seen in the failed comedy 'Total Siyappa', says he thoroughly enjoyed working with Shaad Ali on 'Kill Dil' and doing the buddy-buddy thing with Ranveer Singh in the film.

"It was great fun. But it is Govinda that I most enjoyed working with. I've been his fan since I was in college. It was a dream come true to work with him. It is wrongly believed that Govinda excels at comedy only, watch him in 'Kill Dil' and... well, get your fill," Ali said.

He has not seen the entire film. But he did see bits and pieces of it, and he's impressed.

Lung cancer can stay hidden for over 20 years: Study

The study, led by researchers at the Cancer Research UK, examined lung cancers from seven patients, including smokers, ex-smokers and never smokers.

It found that after the first genetic mistakes that cause the cancer, it can exist undetected for many years until new, additional faults trigger rapid growth of the disease, Xinhua reported.

The researchers hoped this study will help improve early detection of the disease. Currently, two-thirds of patients with lung cancer are diagnosed with advanced forms of the disease when treatments are less likely to be successful.

"By understanding how it develops we've opened up the disease's evolutionary rule book in the hope that we can start to predict its next steps," study author Charles Swanton, professor at the Cancer Research UK said in a statement.

No near-term plan to monetise WhatsApp: Mark Zuckerberg

Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg, who is in India for the Internet.org Summit, said the company is focusing on getting more people to use the service.

"Over the long term, I think there are pretty clear models for building products around messaging products. You can see that through examples like some of the Chinese messaging products like Tencent. Wechat has been very successful.

"We have different ideas about what we can do but for the near future, I mean the next few years, we are really focused on connecting more people, to get them to use our service," Zuckerberg said.

WhatsApp has over 600 million using the service every month. It works across different types of phones without advertising. The app charges 99 cents as an annual subscription fee, which is waived off for the first year.

According to reports, Facebook's final WhatsApp acquisition price tag has risen by an additional USD 3 billion to roughly USD 22 billion because of the increased value of Facebook's stock in recent months.

In February this year, Facebook announced its largest-ever acquisition with the transaction involving USD 12 billion worth of Facebook shares, USD 4 billion in cash and USD 3 billion in restricted stock units.

Get ready for Google 'phablet' this month

Named Shamu (killer whale), the new Nexus phone will be larger than Apple's iPhone 6 Plus (5.5 inches) and Samsung Galaxy Note (5.7 inches), US daily reported.

Motorola Mobility, the phonemaker that Google is selling to China's Lenovo Group Ltd, is reportedly manufacturing the phone.

Google also plan to release a new version of its Android mobile-operating system simultaneously.

In 2011, phablets accounted for 1 percent of the global smartphone shipments but this year, these devices will make up 24 percent of the market, according to a report by global consultancy firm Strategy Analytics.

Oomman Chandy promises good government job for Sreejesh

The 26-year-old Sreejesh, who hails from Ernakulam district, had expressed his desire to work in his home state. He is currently employed with Indian Overseas Bank as manager.

Chandy said that it was in 2012 that the state government offered jobs to five Keralite sportsperson who had jobs outside the state and it was only Sreejesh who accepted the offer.

"We then decided to offer him the job of a sports officer, a post equivalent to an assistant education officer in the education department," said Chandy.

"But now he is employed in a managerial post drawing a handsome salary so I have decided to present his case in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday and a final decision with regards to his post and salary would be taken."

Sreejesh made his debut with the senior national team in 2006 at the South Asian Games in Colombo and since then has been a permanent feature in the Indian team.

At the Asian Games, the vice-captain did a sterling job by defending his goal, when the final against Pakistan went into penalty shootouts where Sreejesh saved two shots, ensuring India the gold medal.

Sreejesh plays for the Mumbai Magicians in the Hockey India League.
